Green Iowa AmeriCorps is currently accepting environmentally focused and passionate individuals to serve in their AmeriCorps State Program. These are 11-month, full-time Environmental Stewardship positions focused on Energy & Community based out of the Winneshiek Energy District in Decorah (other positions are also available throughout Iowa). The program engages members in direct service, environmental education, volunteer and community engagement, and professional development opportunities in unique ways.
Green Iowa AmeriCorps members share their services in the community as much as possible through tabling at various events, talking with locals schools, sharing sustainable and energy efficient projects, and much more!
Environmental Stewards perform free home energy assessments with audits and small-scale weatherizations.
The Decorah team is partnered with the Clayton County Energy District in the First Step Home Efficiency Program to spread their services as far as possible. 150 homes in Clayton County have reached greater energy efficiency thanks to this program. Overall, the Decorah Green Iowa team serves a six county region.
While serving, members receive a living stipend, with access to free training, professional development opportunities, and an education award! Members get to spend almost a year gaining hands-on experience in areas of energy, conservation, environmental education, community engagement and much more! Positions include an Audit Coordinator, Logistics Coordinator, Education Coordinator and Outreach Coordinator. Learn more details on the roles here.
