Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day!
The Clayton County Energy District is proud to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, today, Wednesday, April 22nd! Although this is a significant day to celebrate planet Earth, the CCED knows decisions should always be made in the earth’s best interest in order to support a sustainable future. The Clayton County Energy District is strengthening Clayton County by inclusively leading, implementing and accelerating the clean, local energy transition. We work at the intersection of climate stewardship and economic prosperity. |
Earth Day 2020 is perhaps the most unique year to celebrate yet, not only because it is the 50th anniversary, but also because of the global Coronavirus pandemic, all efforts will be completed almost entirely online. You can join the Earth Day Movement here to join in on the 24 hours of action. This will include conversations, calls to action, performances, video teach-ins, and more. As stated by Earth Day Network:
“The coronavirus pandemic does not shut us down. Instead, it reminds us of what’s at stake in our fight for the planet. If we don’t demand change to transform our planet and meet our climate crisis, our current state will become the new normal — a world where pandemics and extreme weather events span the globe, leaving already marginalized and vulnerable communities even more at risk.”
