The CCED is pleased to announce the return of the First Step Home Efficiency Program and in-person audits with the Green Iowa AmeriCorps team!
Since 2016, in Clayton County, the Decorah-based Green Iowa AmeriCorps (GIA) team completed 150 First Step Home Efficiency Audits. This is one of CCED’s most successful projects to date and has resulted in:
2703 LED bulb replacements
146 ton CO2 emission reduction/yr
$140/household savings/yr
$16,238 total household energy bill savings/yr

Our current focus is the partnership with the city of Guttenberg. During the June 8, 9, 10 Energy Audit Blitz, high-caliber energy audits, weatherization services, and home lighting upgrades will be provided to a limited number of Guttenberg municipal utility customers. Audits will be FREE to residents that are: low income, a veteran, a senior (65+), and/or those with a disability. Any resident who does not qualify under any of those categories can pay the rate of $150 for a home or $75 for an apartment (high-caliber audits are a $500 value)!
