ACT NOW for Energy Assistance Programs
Up to $2,000/household of CARE’s Act funding is available now through November 20 (or until funds are gone) through the Iowa Residential Utility Disruption Prevention Program. The program helps toward electric, natural gas, and water bills if customers are at risk of disconnection due to COVID-19 related loss of income.
Sign up is underway for the Low Income Heating Assistance (LIHEAP). The Northeast Iowa Community Action Agency accepts all applications starting November 1 for this season’s Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) – see the web site or call 563-387-4924.
IMPORTANT: If you aren’t in need, but you know family, friends, coworkers, or neighbors who may be eligible, PLEASE reach out to them with this information. Only about 25% of Iowa households that are eligible for LIHEAP actually participate. These programs can help prevent accumulating debt, utility shutoff, or worse. Now is the time to help each other, and this is one way you can act.
