Merry Christmas from the CCED

This month the Clayton County Energy District conducted our annual LED light bulb giveaway in conjunction with   Clayton County Shepherd of the Hills, Christmas Just 4 Kids Giveaway, in St. Olaf.

The CCED distributed 600 bulbs to 200 Clayton County families in need.  Recipients were enlightened with the positive impact a LED transition can have on their energy bills.  LED bulbs are 75 x’s more efficient, produce bright light and last 25 x’s as long as an incandescent bulb. Swapping the LED bulbs for an incandescent will save the use money and will reduce their carbon emissions. GREEN meets GREEN!

Participants were encouraged to immediately start saving by replacing the highest energy using light bulbs and instructed to  recycle the old bulbs by taking to the collection container stationed in the Clayton County Food Shelf or contact us.
The 60W equivalent LED’s were purchased in Clayton County at Norby’s Farm and Fleet, Elkader  and Fisk Farm and Home in Monona.
